As a massive Harry Potter fan, I was glad to see this film connecting more to the universe, featuring some well-known characters. It does it with somewhat mixed results: Jude Law's Dumbledore is great, I just wanted to see more of him. Johnny Depp I still don't think belongs in the Wizarding World, but he's OK here as Grindelwald: suitably hammy, but not packing the same punch as Ralph Fiennes's Voldemort. The visual style is again wonderful, the acting spot-on, and while the plot occasionally ties itself up in knots, it's still easy to follow at the end, and the Credence revelation was a genuine shocker. So overall, I did enjoy it, they just need to clean up the script a little for the sequels to follow.
