Synopsis

In this spinoff to the main Star Wars saga – set directly prior to the events of A New Hope – the story begins with the first individuals who dare to challenge the brutal regime of the Empire, banding together to form the Rebel Alliance. Tasked with stealing the plans to the ominous Death Star, dissident activist Jyn Erso must use all her courage for the risky mission. Discovering that she is not the only opponent to the Empire, Jyn is aided by others who dare to brave the threat of violent repercussions. Like the original Star Wars films, this is a science-fiction blockbuster set in a galaxy far far away that can nevertheless teach us about wartime sacrifices on the planet we call home.

What our educators say

"It really is a chance for us to open children's minds to the power of film not just as a vehicle for entertainment but also as a way in to understanding their own world and the worlds of people whose lives are very different."
