A realistic take on Southern London

4 stars

02 Dec 2019

In my opinion, Blue Story was fantastic in it's portrayal of Southern London and the horrific crimes that happen there. It allows us to be more aware of things like knife crime that isn't usually fully covered on the news and often get ignored by most of society.

Blue Story follows 2 boys living in different neighborhoods but go to the same school and become friends. However, due to the rival gangs in each area, they are eventually driven apart after escalating disputes between the two.

I love the aspect of the whole movie being placed on a timeline indicated by the rapper rapping about events that take place throughout the story.

Overall I would urge anyone around the age of 15 and above to go and see this film to spread awareness about the terrible things that can happen in your city, because bad things happen to everyone and this movie makes this clear with it's message that all these people aren't bad people they are just put in bad situations, truly there is no "bad guy".
