Film review on The Wave

The Wave is a german movie based on a true story. It follows a teacher named Mr. Wenger and his students as they hold a week long experiment to see if a dictatorship would be able to rise in germany again or if they are past that time.

I really enjoyed this movie, I found it entertaining to watch the story play out and see the development of their class experiment. It was interesting to see how the experiment went from being an innocent week long project to having the class believe they had more power over other people who wouldn’t join the wave and the see the class slowly becoming violent.

I found the end surprising even though I had the feeling it would end badly. I couldn’t believe the students had adopted the mindset of having more power over others and that one of the students took his own life in the end. I would definitely recommend this movie to a friend and even though the movie was in german I still really enjoyed it.
