A real whodunnit?

Death on the Nile is a recent film in cinemas at the moment, from it’s trailer it looked promising and suspenseful so i was very intrigued to go and watch it. I thought it was a good comparison to the Netflix original, Murder Mystery as it contained humour while keeping the suspense.

The plot of this movie is, when a honeymoon of a picture perfect goes horribly wrong detective Poirot is out to suss out who the killer is. Stuck on a boat in the river Nile, how far can the murderer really go before killing everyone…

I thought the way the killer was revealed was very intense and surprising, it shifted the focus off characters which made us in the audience suspect certain characters more than others which i thought was clever. I also appreciated the humour in the story and how that contrasted with the intensity of the film itself.

Coming out of this movie i do have criticisms, one was that; most of the movie focused on the story before getting to the thriller side of the film, and i thought it would engage an audience more if there was a more gripping scene nearer to the start, otherwise it almost seems relatively dull. My other criticism is that a too few amount of people died in the film, in murder mystery movies you need a number of deaths to be engaged . So although there were deaths in the film i feel there could have been more.

But overall I would say this movie was very gripping and intriguing example of a classic whodunnit mystery.
