Shang Chi is a Marvel action film that is part of an overarching story throughout most of its franchise. It is trying to bring in a new character into the main storyline through some asian culture. Trying to be developmental and avoiding stereotypes is difficult. If you are interested in the main MCU storyline and you like action superhero films then you should watch Shang Chi.
Shang Chi was taught machal arts at a young age but when he was 14 when Wenwu sent him to kill a leader of a gang changing his perspective on things. He runs away to San Francisco and changes his name to Shaun and meets his best friend kaity. Later on the way to work she gets attacked. Shang Chi defends her, putting him on his old path when he found out from the attacker that they had his mum captive. There is another plot twist with an interesting story arc for everyone involved with plenty of action and info for the overarching story.
The best bits are the acton scenes and storytelling with the amount of hidden scenes and the adion of the ten ring makes the to thing go together perfectly
On the down side there is a substantial amount of subtitles which isn't a big deal but sometimes takes you away from the visuals of the film
The worst bit is the fact that some pieces of dialogue don't make sense because of the overarching storyline and i don't want to watch 70 + hours of films and TV shows to understand some bits of the film
Overall the film is great but the visuals are so good, reading subtitles, and the overarching story not everyone is up to date with only makes it a 4 star film but apart from that it is an amazing film
