Christopher Nolan's 'Memento' follows the story of Leonard Shelby, an investigator suffering with amnesia and inability to form new memories, who uses tattoos, handwritten notes and photographs in an attempt to hunt the man who murdered his wife and gave him his memory loss. The plot is extremely thought provoking and complex as each scene brought a new idea but there was no way of knowing what was reality as we learn we cannot trust anyone in the film, even Leonard.

Nolan uses a backwards storyline, with the beginning of the film showing the end of the story and the end of the film showing the beginning of the story, which challenges your memory as you attempt to piece together all the information you have been given. This makes the film extremely unique. However it also makes it quite difficult to grasp what is happening due to the extremely fast pace and complexity.

Throughout the film you are made to question all the characters. Leonard acts as an unreliable narrator due to his condition as you can never trust his information until it has been proved true or false . As well as this, he is constantly being forced to question what he knows due to the people influencing him such as 'Natalie' who we soon discover isn't what she appears.

Overall, I found the film quite fascinating but I think it could've been made easier to understand.
