Wreck-It Ralph (2012)

So you might notice that most of my Disney reviews are very negative like Ralph Breaks the Internet , since I talk the sequel ,why not talk to first one and lets talk positive this time and talk about why Wreck it Ralph is my favourite Disney movie ,so Wreck it!:

Why the world building makes sense: I love the world building because how they explain subtlety like the plugs are came from different places and they travelled by a floating monorail its cleaver. Its clear that if you die in a video game you get revive or respawn at the start. The time sonic said If you die out of your game then its game over, that's a important detail later so please remember that now.

The funny: The comedy is funny because it dose have some food puns which Sugar Rush rolls in but its not on the nose and doesn't use it often which I am glad and some of the comedy wants you to throw you off but its actually important like the villain since this seen is played for comedy but if you pay attention its important later.(I'll talk the important stuff into the plot and the characters later)

Animation: The animation holds up great , well not the best looking Disney movie but I love it. I love how detailed it is like how the Nice landers has a low frame rate which represents the original 8-Bit Pixel , the Sugar Rush Avatars are more bouncer which fits the cute aesthetic and Hero's Duty is more realistic. I should mention the movies art style (Including Ralph Breaks the Internet) doesn't used the over Tangled art style which I'm feed up with.

All of the Disney with Tangled art style Tangled , Frozen , Zootopia , Big Hero six , Moana , Frozen 2 , Raya and the last Dragon and Encanto.

I love how stylized each game genre. I love how they show the pixels into a CGI movie. I love the speak marks which feels complete like the designer can easily get away with the Tangled art style and show less with the pixels but I glad they didn't.

I love When can I see you again song probably my favourite my favourite Disney song.

Plot + Characters:

The plot is great because how they build up the attention perfectly without being to on the nose or giving away too much. The opening is a pixel version of the Steamboat Mickey showing the thought and care about this movie. The movie's plot of the villain redemption ark like Mega Mind and Despicable Me and I think the two movies handled it well so back to Ralph. We see the villain meeting its mostly This movie is not about a whimsical tale of a young princess or prince, its not a story about a young boy or animal its a about a dude. In most Disney movies they usually have desires and wonders but Ralph DOESN'T had a desire , the only thing he wants is respect to every one and it's pretty relatable how some one can be overlooked by their looks. played for comedy when we hear Ralph and said he feed up being the bad guy some villain said his going Turbo that's important so remember that now. I like when Ralph giving a cherry to Q*Bert when his game is unplug it shows Ralph is more then just a bad guy. When Ralph got back to his game he was annoyed they are celebrating Fix Felix Jr 30th Anniversary without him. When the Nice landers saw Ralph they asked Felix to speak to him, I like Felix because unlike the nice landers he is not a jerk to Ralph he is an honest good guy ,when Ralph enters all of the nice landers are surprised while Eugene is annoyed Ralph is invited .Ralph saw the little figure of him on the mud so he put the figure on top of the house and give it a medal instead of the mini Felix because he wants to be a winner since Felix is always rewarded , Eugene ignored Felix suggesting to eat the cake instead he says Felix must win a medal because he is a good guy and Ralph ended up WRECKING the cake. I like the cake is square representing the pixel and the scene when Ralph WRECK the cake with his hands , it's very important so remember that. Ralph left the party to win a medal so he can be a winner. When he saw one of the solider from Hero's duty, I find it so funny he just keep walk into the wall. I like the solider being the weird fearful one by his face design , he says the medal is on the tower and the bug on Ralph scars him off and Ralph uses his outfit and head to Hero's Duty but trips over Q*Bert. Ralph gone to Hero's Duty and that's when we meet Calhoun. The scene where Ralph is running away from the cy bugs , you can argue he is an idiot but no well he does have his dim-witted moments but its only this scene and the scene after and he doesn't know the other game genres because he never experience it. After the game was over when Ralph point the screen to the Cy Bug and all Cy bugs point to the beacon, the beacon subtle builds up attention for shadowing the plot later. After the girl leaves Hero's Duty she goes off to Sugar Rush please remember that, I like the interactions of the kids because it felt naturel and doesn't feel cringe or just for comedy. The girl head to Fix it Felix instead, because Ralph isn't here this cause the game to be deemed out of order. The nice landers panicked and need to get Ralph back Felix gone to Q*Bert and said he has gone TURBO. Felix meets Calhoun and its not of those unnecessary can get in love without any build up but back to Ralph. Ralph gone on to the tower and finally received the medal. So movie over? NO! Ralph stepped on a cy Bug and ended up into Sugar Rush and the Cy bug dies. This is when we meet Vanellope. Vanellope is a cute rascal but I like she isn't jerk (unlike the sequel) and wants to get the medal and tricks Ralph by falling into a pound. Every time she says "double strip" there is a double on the candy cane but remember later. This is the side plot: Felix heard Calhoun's backstory were she loss her husband by a cy bug. Its rare Disney movies these days someone died on screen. This is the reason why Calhoun is always cold hearted and you can feel for her. At Sugar Rush we meet our last character King Candy saying the most iconic line "Have some Candy". After every one got their medals Vanellope throws the medal and the incredible Hulk shows up and got caught by a cupcake and send to King Candy's place. You might notice King Candy acts sly and say over the top dialogue so remember him. After Ralph escaped he saw Vanellope and other ones. Vanellope reveal that she has dyslexia, its very rare Disney characters have disabilities and be cause she has glitches (which represents dyslexia) the others destroyed her car she made it for herself. Ralph came in , scare the others and talk straight to Vanellope about the medal he desperately wants and because she give it to the cup Ralph losses his temper and destroyed the jawbreaker. Ralph said that earlier he has a short temper and him destroyed the jawbreaker in half it shows how actually strong he really is. Vanellope suggest to Ralph to help her by getting a new car. Meanwhile Felix and Calhoun discovered Ralph has gone to Sugar Rush and we FINALLY get to know what is Turbo, which is not a phrase its a character from a arcade game from the early days when the arcade is first opened. Felix explains that Turbo loves the attention but another racing game takes away his attention and when to the game WRECKED IT and as a result it cause both of his game and the other one. Felix know about this because I notice that Fix It Felix Jr is at the front of the arcade door and if you re-watched at the opening after the years went by you can see the Turbo Tactic! Its very well detail you can easily missed and man the puzzles is putting together so well but back to Felix and Calhoun which stepped on a double strip candy cane and got stuck. I like how the work together to get out and I love every time Calhoun slaps Felix with different injured expressions which is creative they add on by Felix design only fix so enough with the googly eyes back to Ralph. When Ralph and Vanellope finally get to make a car , I love the camera angles of the scene and we finally get to see Vanellope being pleased with her new car. Its the first time Ralph finally make a true friend its so heart warming Ralph finally putting a smile on his face until King Candy came in and we get the scene when Ralph head to a secret bonus place which King Candy doesn't know about it. Its weird how King Candy is now a villain should know everything about Sugar Rush by Vanellope does know everything. Hmm I wonder that's important later. We get to see Ralph being annoyed he is not getting his medal and talk to Vanellope how he feels like in the game but he discovered that (outside of the cola volcano) Vanellope is also lonely ,hated by everyone by her glitch and lives in a lonely place just like Ralph. Ralph realized he is not the only outcast here and changes his way to practice , so the two outcast have to work together to win the race. Meanwhile at King Candy place he go to his secret layer with the NES controller code. He grab the medal and the big memory represents his ego and Vanellope's memory is not connected. Man how is this movie doing this its so good at foreshadowing. Meanwhile at Felix and Calhoun Felix says Calhoun is one dynamite girl which causes her to remember her backstory and get Felix out. Well its jerkish but Calhoun secretly does care for Felix its that she's afraid of her backstory, so Felix came in and got caught. This is the most IMPORTANT PART OF THE ENTIRE MOVIE: After Ralph and Vanellope done training they go out but Vanellope came back to get something for Ralph. Until Mr Doofus head came and this line "You wouldn't hit a guy with glasses, would you?". He manipulate Ralph saying if Vanellope wins the race it cause the game to be glitched if the players select her. Just bare with me with a moment , like its a possible out come like it could happen here like King Candy can be right here I think this scene is so brilliant if you think outside of the box and here comes the emotional moment. King Candy give the medal to Ralph and leaves. Ralph now filled with fear ,Vanellope returns with a love heart saying "Your my hero" Ralph thinks what is best and tells Vanellope but Vanellope realised that Ralph betrayed her, Ralph puts Vanellope on to a candy tree and destroyed her car. She never know that Ralph really is a bad guy, it s such a heart breaking moment. He left Sugar Rush and got what he wants but when gets to the House Eugene tells everyone is gone and Ralph realised that's not what he wants and realised that the medal isn't important all a long and causes more problems every where he goes. Ralph throws the medal and hit the screen of the arcade and only lean back. When Ralph saw the Sugar Rush arcade Vanellope was on it and realised that King Candy is wrong so he went back. Meanwhile Felix is stuck and try's to get out by it make things harder because he is only made to fix things and not WRECK things. When Ralph shows up but Felix was annoyed because he's always getting rejected and make things wrong him but that's the way Ralph feels for his entire life we finally see Ralph and Felix talking together with their problems so Felix realised and work or WRECK with Ralph. We see Ralph and Vanellope together with a fixed car to set things right. Meanwhile Calhoun discovered that the Cy Bug didn't died in fact it created a nest ready to consume Sugar Rush. When Vanellope get to the race with some cool looking backgrounds at Ralph Calhoun punch him and all of the Cy bugs went crazy. When Vanellope meets King Candy he went insane and went to destroyed Vanellope but King Candy starts to glitch just like her and Plot twist King Candy is Turbo! The reason why the twist works here and not the later ones came after him is 1 the plot doesn't rely on the twist , Turbo or not it still makes sense 2 it lines up with Turbo's backstory unlike later twist villains where they came out of now and C his personality is consistent unlike the others which are nice characters at the start which are evil now which makes no sense. King Candy try's to kill Vanellope but Vanellope uses her glitch a thing everyone hates but King Candy got eatten by a cy Bug. Vanellope try's to win the race but the cy bugs out number, the race is cancelled and Ralph and Vanellope escape or so could Vanellope can because she is a glitch and can't make it out. Ralph saw the Colo hot springs what Calhoun says about a beacon Ralph rides Calhoun's floating board and WRECK the beacon so the cy Bugs can died but Ralph was faced to a cy bug version of King Candy which makes sense considering that Cy bugs can turn into anything what ever it eats. King Candy bring Ralph up. Ralph lets go and says "I'm bad, that's good , I'll never be good because that's not bad , there no I rather be but me" it's a beautiful line because Ralph realised that the bad guys said earlier is right all along. Ralph accepted himself what he is looking at what Vanellope made for him ending his character Ark. But we don't want to see Ralph going suicide since Vanellope rescue him and King Candy got killed it makes sense Sonic says if you die outside of your game you actually die because King Candy doesn't belong here. We finally see the ending everyone respect Vanellope and accept herself and shows if you do have a disability you are cable of doing anything regardless if your different. Its also a positive message to people with disabilities Calhoun accept her past and married Felix getting the ending she deserves. Felix and the nice landers accept how important Ralph really is and they make them happy. On top that Ralph gather new friends which makes the game more popular then ever however King Candy doesn't accept because he is blinded by jealously. And the last scene where Ralph say "The best part of my day is when I get thrown off the roof. Because when the Nice landers lift me up, I get a perfect view of Sugar Rush. And I can see Vanellope racing. The kid's a natural. And the players love her, glitch and all. Just like I knew they would. Turns out I don't need a medal to tell me I'm a good guy. Cause if that little kid likes me... How bad can I be?".

Theme: Most animated movies message is like "Be Yourself" or "Follow Your Dreams" you know very hollow and pathetic messages but this movie doesn't has that. Its about accepting yourself as a person without changing too much.

Why I think Disney should give Wreck it Ralph more attention then it gets: Wreck it Ralph made only 471 million at the box office which is successful but not where near as successful as Tangled 591 million , Zootopia 1025 billion , even Raya and the Last Dragon made 130.4 million and of all movies Frozen with 1.282 billion that's triple times then Wreck it Ralph! :0 Well it got an Oscar nomination and receive well with critics but it lost to Pixar's Brave AKA probably Pixar's weakest movie. Felt like this movie is going to fall back on to Disney's history but I don't think that's a bad thing because a lacking box office can not take away the writing of the movie except the sequel.

Final thoughts: I think this movie is a modern masterpiece and stand strong unlike most other which came after which has a flaw one to another but this movie has no flaws that holds it back. Is it the best Disney movie? Maybe not but its my favourite of all time. It has great animation, great characters, a love letter to gaming history , amazing performances ,iconic character designs , amazing plot and a great message to all.

Conclusion: If I had one word to describe Wreck it Ralph it is....impeccable it means FAULTLESS , its faultless with the plot building up the attention up, its faultless with the character arks , different from all Disney by its not a musical and has a realism behind it and probably the greatest animated movie of this decade. This is why Wreck-it Ralph is my Favourite Disney movie of all time!
