James and the Giant Peach is phantasmagorical. I loved it because it was dreamlike, funny and odd!
It was an interesting journey across New York, through the icy caves and dark storms. The journey was long and treacherous, and I felt like I was part of the film while watching. I was terrified of the humongous insects and how BIG they were compared to James' small size. I loved how the film became a musical when James showed his feelings and expressions.
I was in awe of how the film transitioned from live action to animation and back again. I enjoyed how James and the Giant Peach is related to The Nightmare Before Christmas as they have the same director and producer and Jack Skellington makes a quick visit in the film.
This is a quirky adaptation of a Roald Dahl book, you'll enjoy if you're a fan!
