To accompany the release of the new reboot series, the people at sony knew they wanted to make a movie out of it. Which, given the popularity of the series so far, was the most natural thing to do.
In spite of this popularity however, R & C did not recive the critical acclaim the studio heads wished it would’ve. Getting a 22% on rotten tomates, 5.5/10 on IMDB and 2.3 stars on Letterboxd. No continuation was made or seemingly discussed, however, a non-chanonical short film called “Rachet and Clank: Life of Pie” was made.
While I admit that my feelings might be cluded with nostaglea, I do see worth in this film. It’s imperfect, but not neseccerily blindingly so. If you have kids to occupy, than it is a good enough solution for your problems.
This film has a very self-aware kind of humour, which I admit I found rather funny at points. For me, near the end, when the Dr and Captain talk about one-liners, was rather funny.
This almost seems like the film I would write to myself with limited desire to actually release.
I rather like the animation.
I personally seem to relate to Clank’s character the most, and I liked seeing his and Rachet’s relationship develop over the course of the film. While a good idea, I don’t think continuing this film series should be a full on priority, but if you could make a script that adds to the story and characters while also fixing the issues of this film at the same time, then I would like to see Rachet and Clank’s friendship continue and develop.
