Summon your pupils to space for an intergalactic adventure inspired by Disney and Pixar’s Elio.

As they embark on an imaginative voyage through our galaxy and beyond, learners aged 6-11 will develop key life skills across oracy, leadership and relationship building. Universe Explorer makes cross-curricular links to:

  • English/literacy
  • Science
  • Citizenship
  • PSHE

By exploring Elio’s interplanetary interactions as Earth’s representative, pupils will understand the qualities and behaviours necessary for making friends, being a good leader, and communicating persuasively.

Our resource includes:

My Planet activity

Pupils will combine scientific knowledge and creativity to design habitable planets.

Planet Poll activity

Practising their persuasive language skills, pupils will plan short presentations to convince classmates that their planet is a desirable place to live.

Locate the Leader digital game

This interactive game challenges learners to search the stars and skies of outer space to find Elio and his new friends. Guided by Elio’s companion Glordon, players will learn about each character they find, practicing their independent reading via pop-up character profiles. Play now.

Join our Team home learning sheet

Pupils will write persuasively to another planet’s representative, explaining why they’d make a great addition to the team of planet representatives.

About Elio

Elio, a space fanatic with an active imagination, finds himself on a cosmic misadventure where he must form new bonds with eccentric alien lifeforms, navigate a crisis of intergalactic proportions and somehow discover who he is truly meant to be.

Updating our resources

We have developed a large catalogue of educational resources since launching in 2013, and some references and terminology will inevitably have dated as society and language evolves. We are aware of this and will be updating resources when our production schedule allows.
