Synopsis

Anyone expecting Disney-style animation will get a surprise with this live-action, faithfully adapted version of Carlo Collodi's 1883 tale about the wooden boy who wants to be human. Italian actor and comedian Roberto Benigni (Life Is Beautiful), who wrote, directed and stars in this, fulfilled a decades-long wish to bring the story to the screen, and the set design and costumes are amazing.

What our educators say

"It really is a chance for us to open children's minds to the power of film not just as a vehicle for entertainment but also as a way in to understanding their own world and the worlds of people whose lives are very different."

- Marlon Perkins, Teacher, Whitstable and Seasalter Endowed CofE Junior School, Kent
