Based on Laurie Lee's timeless book, this is a tender and honest account of life in an English village just after the First World War. It is told from the point of view of Laurie, whose beloved mother is left to raise eight children alone after her husband walks out on her. Laurie's early life is full of hardship but also much joy, and, as he grows up, a lot manages to happen in their small village - including a murder. A lovely adaptation of a classic autobiography.
This film has a couple of uses of mild bad language.
