Synopsis

Imagine if your idol became your life-coach. That's exactly what happens to Eric Bishop, a middle-aged postman from Manchester, who's struggling to bring up his two teenage step-sons - one of whom gets mixed up with a city gang. One night, when Eric's talking to a poster of his hero, ex-footballing legend Eric Cantona, the poster not only responds, but comes to life. Ken Loach, one of Britain's most-respected directors, is best known for gritty social realism, but this charming fantasy shows he has a great sense of humour too.

What our educators say

"It really is a chance for us to open children's minds to the power of film not just as a vehicle for entertainment but also as a way in to understanding their own world and the worlds of people whose lives are very different."

- Marlon Perkins, Teacher, Whitstable and Seasalter Endowed CofE Junior School, Kent
