Synopsis

When a rich British aristocrat disappears off the coast of Australia in 1866, his servant Bogle is dispatched. With Lord Tichborne nowhere to be found and realising that he will be refused a return home unless in the company of his master, Bogle desperately attempts to mould a vulgar peasant into a Tichborne double. The following crash-course in elite etiquette makes this a delightfully different costume drama - slapstick chaos underlined by a satirical assault on the hypocrisy of the day's establishment. Based on a true story, the 'is he or isn't he the real Titchborne?' mystery is skilfully teased throughout.

What our educators say

"Some of them saw a clip from Wakolda (The German Doctor) on TV recently and really wanted to watch it. So I thought I’d take a chance, not expecting them to watch the whole film but the majority were absolutely gripped. "
