Long before Lady Gaga made flamboyance her trademark, the late American entertainer Liberace was living it large as one of the most over-the-top people in showbiz. This witty, moving and suitably vibrant biopic lets you step into the so-called Glitter Man's world of jaw-dropping excess, as it explores his secretive and tempestuous, five-year love affair with his far younger employee, Scott Thorson. From the pair's first meeting backstage at a Las Vegas hotel in 1977 to their bitter and very public break-up, the intimate drama captures the highs and lows of their relationship in fascinating detail. Visually, there's so much bling you may need sunglasses, but it's the superb performances that really make the film sparkle.
