Synopsis

Kicked out of the last school willing to take him, wayward teen Steve returns to live with his feisty mother, Diane. Struggling to hold down a job and cope with her son’s erratic behaviour Diane calls on timid neighbour Kyla for help. Together, the three form a precarious bond reliant on the warmth of their relationships and the acceptance of each other’s flaws. This emotionally charged film has the exuberance you would expect from a young filmmaker coupled with moments of humour and poignancy that make for compelling viewing.

What our educators say

"It really is a chance for us to open children's minds to the power of film not just as a vehicle for entertainment but also as a way in to understanding their own world and the worlds of people whose lives are very different."

- Marlon Perkins, Teacher, Whitstable and Seasalter Endowed CofE Junior School, Kent
