Surviving the streets of Calcutta he is eventually adopted by a couple in Australia. Opening with the little boy’s alarming journey across India as he is swept away from his family and into the frantic melee of a strange city, the film then transitions to Saroo 25 years later as a University student. Inspired by the introduction of Google Earth he becomes desperate to retrace his steps and find the family he left behind.
