Synopsis

Smiles and laughter are a thing of the past in this family animation, due to the actions of an evil wizard known as The Grump. After casting a spell of gloom over the entire kingdom, Terry – a young boy who wants nothing more than to experience the glee he remembers as a small child – sets off on an adventure to restore this feeling to the land. When he is swept away to a magical place, he discovers that the creatures of his grandmother Mary’s imagination have come to life! He uses the memories of her stories to navigate his way through this unfamiliar world, teaming up with a princess to outwit a number of weird and wonderful creatures, from walking trees to clumsy dragons, and find happiness for all.

What our educators say

"It really is a chance for us to open children's minds to the power of film not just as a vehicle for entertainment but also as a way in to understanding their own world and the worlds of people whose lives are very different."
