Synopsis

Rieke, who works as an emergency doctor, attempts to fulfil a lifelong dream of completing a solo voyage from Gibraltar to Ascension Island, located in the Atlantic Ocean. Despite encountering a violent storm on her journey, she perseveres, and all appears to be going more or less to plan. But when she encounters a group of shipwrecked refugees, Rieke’s progress is halted as she calls for reinforcements. After contacting the coastguard, Rieke becomes increasingly concerned at the lack of action taken, and refuses to leave the desperate survivors until she’s assured of their safety. But with the refugees running out of time, they are forced into drastic action of their own, leaving Rieke to decide the right course to take in this gripping ethical quandary.

What our educators say

"We are currently screening The Wizard of Oz, profound film that it is, and the last film Wall-E. It's been rewarding observing the KS1 6 year olds run the gamut of emotions from wonder to sadness to joy. "
