Unreleased for many years, this concert film captures the live recording of Aretha Franklin’s best-selling gospel album. Shot in 1972 inside a church in Watts, Los Angeles, the renowned ‘Queen of Soul’ delivers a captivating performance of some of her biggest hits to an audience of church-goers and famous musical guests. This piece of musical history highlights the late singer’s force and the unique experience of live music, while also touching on themes of archive and the documentary format.

What our educators say

"It really is a chance for us to open children's minds to the power of film not just as a vehicle for entertainment but also as a way in to understanding their own world and the worlds of people whose lives are very different."
