In the 1960s, American automobile manufacturer Ford are struggling financially. Henry Ford II, son of the company’s founder, is in charge and announces that only those with ideas can stay. His executives pitch him an ambitious idea: copy what has made Ferrari successful, and beat them at their own game by winning at Le Mans, a 24 hour race seen as the pinnacle of motorsports. To do so, they draft in designer Caroll Shelby who makes necessary changes to the car before making demands of his own, claiming that only one man is able to drive the vehicle to victory. Ken Miles, the driver in question, is as suspicious of Ford as they are of him; they worry that he won’t play by their rules, and he believes they’re only out for themselves. Shelby must try to keep everyone happy if Ford are to have any shot at defeating Ferrari at Le Mans in this slick, fast-paced true story.
