Synopsis

In her close-knit Chinese community, a young girl named Fei Fei learns about the legend of the moon goddess Chang’e who waits for her lover Houyi. In preparation for the annual Moon Festival, Fei Fei and her family make mooncakes for the village, but her mother falls ill and passes away. Four years later, Fei Fei still believes in the story of Chang’e and is upset when she learns that her father has gotten engaged to another woman. Thinking about her mother during the Moon Festival celebration and inspired by the story of Chang’e, Fei Fei decides to build a rocket to the moon to prove that the goddess is real. On her incredible journey through space, Fei Fei meets strange creatures and learns the truth about Chang’e story in this colourful, musical animation which explores themes including grief, culture, and family.
