One of the best-selling musicians of all time, Bob Marley is known for popularising reggae music on a global scale. This major biographical film about his life, the first of its kind and produced in partnership with the singer’s family, charts his rise to fame and his close bond with his wife, Rita, and his children. The soaring success of Bob Marley and the Wailers leads the musician to record overseas, gaining international attention. Meanwhile, in his home country of Jamaica, tensions are mounting between the two leading political parties, with violence erupting in the streets of Kingston. Deeply troubled by this, Marley pours messages of peace in his uplifting songs and takes part in concerts aiming to unify the people. This simple yet brazen act of defiance turns the Marley family into a target, but the musician’s enduring belief in redemption will prove that love ultimately triumphs over hate.
