Secretive and solemn, a conclave is a gathering of cardinals when it is time to elect a new Pope of the Catholic Church. This gripping political thriller invites us behind the firmly closed doors of the Vatican City to experience the intensity of such a process in a story of twists, turns and battles for power. Following the sudden death of the reigning pontiff, a thoughtful and principled cardinal named Thomas Lawrence is appointed as the Dean of the Conclave to watch over the proceedings. He doesn’t personally seek the coveted nomination, but he is anxious about the direction that other more conservative and traditionalist candidates would want to lead the Church towards. But within this sacred space, not everything is at it seems, as hidden alliances, personal rivalries, and a shocking revelation create further tensions and sway the casting of ballots. Faith, morality and psychology come to a head in this urgent drama.
