In 1950, Anatole “Zsa‑zsa” Korda, a ruthless European business tycoon, miraculously survives yet another assassination attempt - his sixth! Shaken by his near‑death experiences and determined to secure his legacy, Korda summons his estranged daughter Liesl, a devout nun, with whom he has a strained relationship. He enlists her in his latest money-grabbing enterprise building infrastructure in the Middle East. Accompanied by Korda’s eccentric assistant Bjørn, father and daughter embark on a whirlwind, globetrotting quest to renegotiate with and swindle a range of investors. However, their efforts are challenged by obstructive foreign forces and saboteurs. Featuring director Wes Anderson’s trademark stylized visuals and whimsical humour, this dark tale of espionage offers thoughtful insights into wealth, power, morality and redemption.
