Aurora is a young Portuguese woman who works as a ‘picker' at a retail warehouse in Scotland, in the behind-the-scenes of online shopping. It's a mind-numbing but fast-paced environment, full of other equally drained workers, and in moments of respite she eats alone, doom-scrolling on her phone. Aurora is deeply lonely. She craves a full life with meaningful connections, but she feels awkward around people, and even in her overcrowded Edinburgh flatshare, she exists in solitude. But when her phone breaks, the cost of repairing it and the realisation of the extent of her isolation become overwhelming – until she learns a new form of her resilience and hope. A touching film that explores issues surrounding social isolation and highlights our basic human need for community, dignity and to be masters of our own destiny.
