Based on a Stephen King short story, this oddly humorous and often gruesome horror film is narrated by Hal Shelburn, telling us all about the strange story of his life - one tragedy after another. Along with his brother Bill, Hal is one half of a pair of twins who happen upon a creepy toy monkey amongst their missing father’s belongings. Soon after winding up the monkey for the first time, they witness the bizarre and unlikely death of their babysitter, the first of many “accidents” that seem to occur each time the monkey is wound up. Unable to get rid of the monkey, no matter how hard they try, the two brothers are torn apart by fear, jealousy and power. Blending comedy, unexpected scares and the drama of a brotherly rivalry, this unique horror film is a memorable, blood-splattered, crowd-pleaser.
