Times are tough for Herb McGwyer, a once celebrated folk musician. So, when he is invited to perform for a private audience on a rugged island off the Welsh coast, he decides to accept the easy cash. What he wasn’t expecting was to be greeted by eccentric lottery winner Charles, a devoted fan, who arranged the concert in honour of his late wife. The makeshift stage consists of a pallet on the beach, and Charles will be the only audience member. Things become even more awkward when Herb’s former musical and romantic partner, Nell Mortimer, arrives with her new husband. Tensions rise over unequal pay and unresolved emotions, forcing the estranged duo to confront their past during their stay in the home of the chatty and lonely Charles. Full of wit and heartfelt performances, this British film explores fame, friendship, and the bittersweet beauty of second chances.
