It’s 1988 and Nicholas ‘Nicky’ Winton, a retired British man, looks back on his life, with the sensation that somehow there’s something in his past that feels unfinished. As a young man, on the eve of the Second World War, he became involved in an extraordinary mission. He and a small team of volunteers worked tirelessly, against all odds, to evacuate as many children as possible from refugee camps in Prague to the United Kingdom. They saved 669 in total, before the Nazis halted their operation, but Nicky is haunted by those lives he could not save. However, by revisiting the past, he finally comes face-to-face with the precious gift of a future that his determination brought about. This moving historical drama is based on the true story of an ordinary man who sets an extraordinary example of compassion.
