The third entry of the ‘Knives Out’ detective series follows young priest Father Jud Duplenticy who, after punching a colleague, is sent to a small parish in upstate New York to prove himself. A mystery sparks into life when the parish’s tyrannical and highly controversial priest Jefferson Wicks collapses dead inside a sealed chamber during a Good Friday service, plunging the town’s tight-knit community into chaos. The crime appears entirely impossible – a classic locked room mystery - and suspicion immediately falls on Father Jud who recently clashed with the victim. Enter world-renowned detective Benoit Blanc who must untangle a web of lies, missing fortunes and buried secrets in the congregation of failed politicians, naïve followers and bitter loyalists. This hugely entertaining and smartly written murder mystery pays homage to the genre whilst also providing a fresh take on how we tell these stories in the modern age.
Classification moderate injury detail, violence, sex references, threat, strong language
