The first big-screen outing for legendary cat and mouse duo Tom and Jerry begins exactly how you would expect, with the old enemies locked in a high-speed chase through a modern-day museum in New York City. However, when they accidentally activate a magical compass in the museum’s Chinese exhibit, they are transported through a portal and into an ancient, candy-coloured Chinese fantasy world. Quickly realising they must put their endless battle for animal supremacy on hold, the two try to work together and find a way back home. Although the help of some new friends pushes them forward, Tom and Jerry soon find that formidable magic forces such as the Celestial Master and Mega-Rat stand in the way of their shared goals. This story of cross-cultural friendship aims to show that sometimes working together can be mutually beneficial.
