Set on an alternate Earth, Cherry has recently married the aristocrat Jerome and the couple live in a castle together, though two months after their betrothal there is still no sign of a child. The court’s advisors state that if a pregnancy doesn’t occur within the coming months, Cherry will be put to death, as according to their laws. It turns out the reason for this is because Jerome hasn’t sought to consummate their marriage, which he seeks to keep a secret. When Jerome’s attractive, swaggering friend Manfred turns up, they engage in a bet: Manfred is convinced he can seduce Cherry with her husband absent, while Jerome assures his confidante that she will remain faithful. If Manfred succeeds, he will gain Jerome’s entire estate, but if he fails then he must father a child and present it as Jerome’s heir. As Jerome leaves for a hundred days ‘on business’, Manfred sets out on his mission but must contend with another romantic interest in the form of Cherry’s maid, Hero. Adapted from a graphic novel, itself based on the Middle Eastern folktale ‘One Thousand and One Nights’, this fantasy romance contains themes around gender empowerment and LGBTQ+ relationships.
