Synopsis
Set in the late Bronze Age, this adaptation of Homer’s foundational mythological novel is given the blockbuster treatment. After ten gruelling years fighting in the Trojan War, King Odysseus of Ithaca embarks on a treacherous odyssey across uncharted seas to reunite with his wife, Penelope, and son, Telemachus. Along his relentless journey home, he must outwit terrifying mythical beasts like the Cyclops, resist the tempting powers of enchantresses Circe and endure the wrath of Poseidon. Meanwhile, suitors back in Ithaca plot to usurp his throne and family. Beyond its cinematic scale, director Christopher Nolan has created an accessible gateway to analysing epic literature, ancient Greek culture and the timeless archetype of the heroic journey.
