Aubrey Flint is a deeply reclusive, cynical man who spends his days isolating himself from society and obsessively painting model soldiers. Driven by a lifelong hatred of Christmas and burdened by unresolved personal grief, Aubrey keeps the rest of the world at arm’s length. Following a petty infraction, he is sentenced to court-ordered community service at Willow Lodge, a cozy but financially struggling retirement home on the brink of closure. After meeting with the home’s quirky inhabitants and being coerced into directing their amateur production of A Christmas Carol, Aubrey suddenly finds himself faced with the prospect of confronting his own “ghosts of Christmas past”. This feel-good British comedy harnesses the festive spirit whilst also acting as an emotional character study of a man’s journey back to contentment.
Classification mild bad language, upsetting scenes, drug references
