Synopsis
Based on the iconic novel by acclaimed author Virginia Woolf and set in 1910s London, the film follows brilliant and headstrong Katharine Hilbery, an aspiring astronomer determined to resist the societal expectations of the time, especially romantic entanglements and marriage. When her controlling father attempts to push her into an engagement with family friend William Rodney, Katharine turns to the suffragette movement and allies with activist Mary Datchet to preserve her independence. However, shifting romantic and intellectual loyalties force her to re-evaluate her beliefs about love, ambition, and claiming her place in the world.
