In June 1993, while Nigeria holds its first democratic presidential election in over a decade, two young brothers leave their quiet village home with their estranged father, Folarin, bound for the sprawling metropolis of Lagos. With Folarin on the hunt to recover months of overdue wages, the journey quickly forces the boys to confront a city surging with civil unrest, military checkpoints, and inequality. Yet within the chaos of Lagos, the trip becomes a moment of connection and an opportunity for the brothers to witness their father's complexity, quiet resilience, and fierce protective instincts. However, when the military government moves to annul the election results and violence threatens to spill into the streets, the boys must navigate the fragile nature of both their country and their father. A snapshot of West African political history and a semi-autobiographical insight into the filmmaker’s childhood.
