With his big bowtie and silly stripey headwear, the Cat in the Hat’s job is to spread joy to kids, but despite his enthusiasm, most of his assignments end in chaos. His boss at the I.I.I.I. (Institute for the Institution of Imagination and Inspiration, LLC) gives him one last chance to prove himself. His mission is to cheer up Gabby and Sebastian, a pair of siblings struggling with their move to a new town. Bursting into their home with playful and mischievous games and cute ‘Things’, the Cat shows Gabby and Sebastian his Go-Backer, a magical clock that reverses time. But when this device gets lost among the family’s belongings, the Cat worries that he has really blown it this time. He and the children must navigate to a surreal world constructed entirely out of their own memories to find the device and undo a catastrophic magical mishap. This delightful animation honours the wonderfully whimsical tradition of Dr. Seuss’ rhyming books, with a heartwarming message about the bonds of family and everything that comes with it.
