In 1978, a young naturalist named David Attenborough travelled to Rwanda's Virunga Mountains to make a nature documentary. Whilst he was there, he met a baby gorilla named Pablo whom he immediately became fascinated by, forming a bond that would endure over both their lives. Attenborough would go on to become one of the world’s most beloved custodians of nature whilst Pablo would live his own life in Rwanda, growing up to be a dominant silverback leader and starting a family of his own. Attenborough returned many times to visit Pablo and his descendants and this intimate and often wonderous documentary details the breadth of their relationship, highlighting the importance of the human connection with nature and our similarities with the gorilla kingdom.
