England's seaside has always been a place of crime and secrecy - and so it proves in Brighton Rock. Adapted from the novel by Graham Greene, the story follows the hate-filled Pinkie Brown, a teenage mobster who has just taken over running a London gang. Chasing a victim down to a seedy Brighton of pubs and piers, he lures an innocent young girl into helping him when he wants to escape again - but although she dreams of a romance between the pair, Pinkie is pure evil from head to toe. A chilling black-and-white classic from the 1940s that still has the power to shock even now.
