Synopsis

A wizard and a 17-year-old boy join up on a journey across the troubled land of Earthsea - where people are behaving in weird ways, there are dragons in the sky, and things generally are seeming like they're coming apart at the seams. But although the boy and the wizard seem to be working together, in confusing times no loyalties should be taken for granted. This Japanese-made animated film is based on the long-running Earthsea series of novels. A lovely looking fantasy with some plenty of imaginative and memorable scenes.

What our educators say

"It really is a chance for us to open children's minds to the power of film not just as a vehicle for entertainment but also as a way in to understanding their own world and the worlds of people whose lives are very different."
