Popular book and TV franchise Horrible Histories has educated and entertained generations of young people and adults alike, and brand-new film Horrible Histories: The Movie Rotten Romans will be hitting the big screen on 26 July! To celebrate, we've created a brand-new Horrible Histories The Movie: Rotten Romans resource to match.

Our history, English literature and music resource is themed around the new film and takes the form of Team Roman vs. Team Celt, where your students will learn about these two fascinating groups. Focusing on history curriculum topic The Roman Empire and its Impact on Britain, and including English literature and music links as well as exclusive song and video clips from the film the resource will see students aged 7-11 will explore this significant historical period, with activities including a local history study and Romans vs. Celts class debates.

Students will also create their own Horrible Histories-style song or poem to take part in a ‘Battle of the Bands' and can extend their learning by filming it too after all, it wouldn't be Horrible Histories without a hilarious song or two!

Updating our resources

We have developed a large catalogue of educational resources since launching in 2013, and some references and terminology will inevitably have dated as society and language evolves. We are aware of this and will be updating resources when our production schedule allows.
