'Tipping Point' wins our Time for Action award

Congratulations to Araminta, aged 16, from Conwy in Wales, whose film Tipping Point has won our Time for Action award (sponsored by Swatch) at the 2025 Into Film Awards. The award was presented by Gurinder Chadha and Lennie James.

Our special Time for Action award asks young people to create a film that raises awareness of issues important to them and explores the changes they would like to make in the world, whether big or small; personal or society wide.

Tipping Point is a short film that nevertheless packs a mighty punch. Araminta's film is a stark wake-up call for anyone who's ever found themselves spending hours mindlessly scrolling on their phone; a film with a vital message, urging and reminding us all to stand up and live our lives to the fullest.

I hope to inspire people to use their lives for the good of themselves and other people.

Araminta, who was also nominated with a larger group in this year's Best Film - 16-19 category, spoke about the idea behind her film. "I see so many people waste their lives away on screens", said Araminta. "It's really important to me that people make the most of the short life they have. I believe making the most of it isn't partying your life away, or doomscrolling infinitely, but using your unique talents and skills to make the world a better place for this generation and the next."

"I hope to inspire people to use their lives for the good of themselves and other people", Araminta continued, emphasising exactly why she's a deserving winner of our Time for Action award. "We're on this Earth for a reason. I know there is so much to live beyond the confines of a phone. Everybody has a calling. Go find yours."

Impressively, Araminta made Tipping Point in just one day, serving as her own real-world example of exactly the sort of action and drive that the film is hoping to convey. "I told myself on New Year's Eve that 2025 will be the year I start making films. I wrote ‘Make a short film' in my January goals, but January 30th rolled around, and I still hadn't done it. I had nothing else to do that day, so I started writing a script. I filmed all the dark scenes that night and filmed the rest in the morning. I only had until 4pm to finish it, so I had to edit super quickly. After exporting six times (I wasn't happy with the colour grading!) the film was finished. I'd done it. I made a short film in less than 24 hours." If that isn't the spirit of Time for Action and Tipping Point then we don't know what is!
