Set in Glasgow, this musical drama follows Rose, a spirited and slightly frenzied young woman recently out of prison. Although returning to the responsibilities and pressures of being a single mother to two children, she cannot shake her dream of becoming a country singer in Nashville. With a terrific performance from Jessie Buckley, this is an entertaining and heartfelt film that notably highlights working-class families, unconventional motherhood and the role of music in self-discovery.
