This course is part of
Relationships on Film, a series of short learning experiences to support sex and relationships education.

With intimate relationships coming in all different shapes and sizes, how can we teach young people to recognise the difference between healthy and harmful relationship behaviours?

Designed in partnership with the leading sexual health and wellbeing charity, Brook, this course provides practical and engaging film-based teaching ideas to support educators of 11–16-year-olds in exploring the traits of healthy relationships. Through our curated selection of film content, you’ll learn how to discuss the sex and relationships issues facing young people today using a medium that is both familiar and relatable.

Along the way, you’ll gain access to a range of materials to enhance your teaching including ready-to-use lessons and resources, professional short and youth-made films,as well as feature-length content available to stream on Into Film+.

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Analyse film highlights to explore the common features of healthy relationships

  • Examine how the media presents idealised (and sometimes unrealistic) relationships

  • Develop strategies for dealing with conflict and break-ups, using scenarios from films to stimulate discussion.
