A specially selected programme of Thriller films to complement the BFI’s Blockbuster Season, including films curated by young people.

Psycho

Complementing the BFI's Thriller blockbuster season this autumn, we question whether the thriller is the genre of our time with a strand curated by regional programming groups from the BFI's Young Film Audience Network and Into Film's own Youth Advisory Council. The young programmers, aged between 8-21, were asked to investigate seven key aspects of the Thriller genre, nominating their two favourite films from each category. We've rounded the strand up with thriller favourites chosen by Into Film's Youth Advisory Council and anniversary titles and recent releases identified by the festival's curation team. We'd like to thank the following young programming groups for their invaluable insight and support on programming the seven aspects of the strand:

Film Noir - Cell B (Wales)

Hitchcock - Discovery (Dundee)

Suspense - Eden Court (Inverness)

Political - Story House (Chester)

Psychological - QFT (Belfast)

Contemporary Femme Fatale - Cinema City (Norwich)

British - Gulbenkian (Canterbury)
