Synopsis
Val has been a loyal and loving housekeeper for the same family in Sao Paulo for many years, serving as a maternal figure for teenager Fabinho. But when her long-lost daughter Jessica comes back into her life, staying with Val in the house as she prepares for her university entrance exam, friction arises. Jessica is smart, progressive and petulant, from another generation and not afraid to speak her mind about the rules of the house. This is a warm, astute comedy-drama with much to say about class, family divisions, and liberal values. The film is a fascinating snapshot of contemporary Brazil but also transcends its geographical setting.
