Synopsis

'Official Secrets' tells the real-life story of Katherine Gun, a British intelligent specialist who, during the 2003 Iraq war, uncovered a shocking directive – the United States have enlisted Britain’s help in uncovering compromising information on the U.N. Security Council members, planning to blackmail them into voting in favour of an invasion of Iraq. Unable to stand by and watch the conspiracy unfold, she makes the difficult decision to defy her country and leak the information to the press. A valuable and timely film which gives great insight into the concept of whistleblowing that also examines the complex morals and ethics which lead to these difficult choices being made.

What our educators say

"We are currently screening The Wizard of Oz, profound film that it is, and the last film Wall-E. It's been rewarding observing the KS1 6 year olds run the gamut of emotions from wonder to sadness to joy. "
