Synopsis

16-year-old Manuel lives in a small town on the coast of Argentina and regularly practices playing music in a band alongside his friends. His best friend of all is Felipe who he’s been very close to since childhood, and he’s also dating a girl named Azul. As Manuel and Azul are preparing to take the next step in their relationship, it conjures up confusing feelings for Manuel who is unsure about what he wants. The more Manuel considers the people around him, he more he thinks about Felipe and begins to develop romantic feelings for him. Unable to find advice or comfort from family or other friends, Manuel isn’t sure whether or not to act upon his feelings as he’s worried about risking their long-time friendship. ‘Sublime’ is a sweet Spanish language coming-of-age drama with themes around friendship, identity, and creative expression.

What our educators say

"Some of them saw a clip from Wakolda (The German Doctor) on TV recently and really wanted to watch it. So I thought I’d take a chance, not expecting them to watch the whole film but the majority were absolutely gripped. "
