Based on a much-loved German TV series, this story of children’s intrepid detective work opens with 12-year-old Alice on holiday with her friend Tarun and his mum Jaswinder, a marine researcher. When Jaswinder’s important research on plastic waste disposal is stolen, Tarun and Alice enlist the help of their group of friends, nicknamed the Peppercorns. Luckily, there’s nothing that the Peppercorns love more than solving mysteries and fighting crime. Jaswinder’s disappearance leads the Peppercorns to ramp up their investigations on her colleagues and on an unscrupulous businessman who treats the ocean like his personal dumping ground. Filled with thrilling bike chases and code cracking, this German-language film delivers an important message about protecting the environment and standing up to injustice.
